Purchasing Director Jim Ball and members of his team
will provide a follow-on to his September, 2010 overview
of Cricket's "Procurement 2.0" business
transformation. This presentation will focus on the
year-long transition from manual to electronic invoicing
plus the successes and challenges of capturing early
payment discounts whether contracted, negotiated or
auctioned.
About
the Speakers:
Jim Ball is the Director of Purchasing
for Cricket Communications, a wholly-owned subsidiary
of Leap Wireless with headquarters in San Diego, CA
and Denver, CO. He currently manages a diverse team
that supports Cricket's annual spend in excess of
$2 billion. The team is comprised of local employees
and offshore resources in Bangalore, India. Mr. Ball
and his team recently completed a Procure-To-Pay transformation
that included the selection and implementation of
several leading-edge systems encompassing online catalogs,
a supplier portal, spend analytics and user-friendly
reporting tools. After joining Cricket in 1998 from
Qualcomm, Mr. Ball became the company's Director of
Customer Equipment where he managed the supply chain
for $300 million in annual purchases for handsets
and accessories. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration
with an emphasis in Information Systems from San Diego
State University.
Bryan
Hageman is a Manager of Business Processes
for the Purchasing group at Cricket. He and his team
manage the supplier portal and interact with hundreds
of suppliers each month. He was an integral part of
the team that executed the Procure to Pay transformation.
Prior to joining Cricket’s Purchasing group
he spent many years working on various Oracle implementations,
from a full implementation to module implementations
and enhancements. He holds a M.S.B.A in Entrepreneurship
from San Diego State University.
Sean
Crowder, C.P.M. is a Procurement Manager
in the Purchasing group. After joining Cricket in
2009 Sean led the implementation of Cricket's eProcurement
tools and electronic B2B transactions. Mr. Crowder
was directly responsible for early payment negotiations
and managed Cricket’s strategic DPO improvement
projects. Prior to Cricket, he was a commodity manager
at the University of California, San Diego where he
specialized in fuel negotiations and strategy. Sean
holds a B.A. in History with an emphasis in European
Diplomacy from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
