NAPM-SD
has changed its name to ISM-SD
Valued
Members,
Since
2001, the brand Institute for Supply Management has grown strong
and National Association of Purchasing Management has become
obsolete.
Our
profession has evolved and the word "purchaser" has
become only partially descriptive of our role in business. Most
of us are now responsible for managing the supply of goods and
services that are necessary to meet our organizations’
vital objectives. We are challenged to drive out cost, improve
design, coordinate early supplier involvement and a variety
of other activities with value-added goals. Supply management
is an important strategic function and purchasing is a process
within supply management.
As
the Institute for Supply Management – San Diego, our affiliate
is more accurately cast in the current context of our profession.
While still including purchasing, our name now reflects the
broader calculated view of supply.
Please
note that our website address has also changed to ismsd.org.
